Course Objectives

The learner will be able to:
  1. Plan, peer teach, and evaluate a technology-based, 120 minute lesson using constructivist learning models.
  • Correctly explain the roles of teacher, student, and technology in constructivist learning models.
  • Identify examples of constructivist teaching and learning.
  • Construct a Unit of Practice for eventual use in the classroom.
  • Use email for instructional and professional development purposes.
  • Use web conferencing for instructional and collaborative purposes.
  • Operate and troubleshoot a web browser.
  • Identify and locate web-based resources for instructional purposes.
  • Capture web graphics, sounds, and video for use in a multimedia presentation.
  • Use WP tools to format documents as specified
  • Construct spreadsheets for learning or productivity purposes
  • Construct databases for classroom management purposes
  • Import database records for use in an electronic gradebook
  • Use an electronic gradebook as a productivity tool.
  • Design an Avid Cinema Project to be used as a professional portfolio resource
  • Create a videotape using Avid Cinema to be used as a professional portfolio resource

Course Evaluation


You will receive a point for each class you attend for a maximum total of 19 points. You may pick up your final point totals for this module on or after Monday, June 12. Unclaimed grade sheets will be thrown away at the end of that week.

Each student must submit a Unit of Practice by the specified deadline. Failure to do so will result in the grade of F for this course.

Students who successfully complete this module will be certified at the novice level (and perhaps the practitioner level) by the state under the SchoolNet Professional Development Rubric.
