Responsible for helping articulate a vision and strategic plan for district technology integration along with related professional development for teachers and administrators. Responsible for increasing technical knowledge and skills, introducing pedagogical methods best suited for technology integration, and providing change leadership strategies for administrators. Responsible for piloting emerging technologies like handheld computing for use as learning tools. Responsible for developing the district's triennial technology plan and for purchasing new hardware and software. Work with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction to align technology with new state curriculum and educational technology standards.

Developed and taught an educational technology methods course for Ashland University's Master's Plus Program similar to the ones taught at Miami University (see below for specifics). Emphasis was on how to integrate technology to support and enhance a standards-based learning environment. Developed and taught a leadership for change course that provided future technology leaders, K12, with skills and tools needed to help ensure the successful adoption and use of technology to enhance standards-based classrooms in Ohio schools.

At SchoolNet, provided leadership for the development of current and new professional development programs to advance the integration and effective use of technology, K-12. Provided leadership for the development of compelling visions for the use of educational technology within education and administrative contexts. Oversaw the administration of programs related to Instructional Integration: novice/practitioner training, eclearinghouse, state conference, professional development grants, tech equity, technology planning, TLCF, and community schools. Organized and co-led the development of a statewide PK-18 framework for the adoption of technology standards and accompanying professional development for pre- and inservice teachers. Co-led a parallel effort for the development of administrative standards, matrices, and accompanying professional development. Developed a web-based lesson plan construction site to help my students construct technology and network-based lesson plans for their teaching project. Used the Apple Learning Interchange (ALI) to conduct an on-line mentoring program in education technology for my students. Regularly publish QuickTime video of exemplary class teaching projects as a professional portfolio service for my students. Co-developed the Technology in Education Adoption Model (TEAM), a model to systematically train preservice teachers to integrate technology into curriculum and instruction. LEADERSHIP

  • Upon invitation, serve as one of five mentors nationally in the International Society for Technology in Education’s (ISTE) NETS Online program. This pilot program is designed to offer online professional development that is aligned to ISTE’s National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for teachers. Its purpose, in part, is to help teachers advance the integration of technology and its use as powerful tools for teaching and learning, August, 2001-Present.

  • Upon invitation, serve as part of a workshop review team as a national reviewer for the NECC 2002 conference, Fall, 2001.

  • Developed and presented a technology integration, professional development, and evaluation model for principals to use to help them assess technology use in their buildings, various meetings, December 1999 - Present.

A Comprehensive Study of Final Cut Pro HD: Editing Professional Video
This Apple-certified, five-day comprehensive and immersive course highlighted all of the key features of Final Cut Pro HD. Topics included basic setup, customizing preferences and settings, capturing video and audio, editing and trimming techniques, audio editing and audio creation using Soundtrack, title creation using LiveType, and final output techniques and processes.

Palm Regional Workshop Curriculum Integration and Educational Utilities
This two-day regional workshop held in Lagrange IN, and sponsored by Palm Inc., focused on curriculum integration for Palm handheld computers. Topics included handheld use and applications for the areas of math, science, and language arts. Educational utilities such as grade books for Palm were also featured.

Palm Integration Workshop with Mike Curtis
On behalf of Westerville City Schools, I invited Mike Curtis, a nationally recognized leader in integrating Palm handheld computers, to spend a day working with our Smaller Learning Communities faculty in integrating Palm handhelds. Curtis focused on using Palm applications developed at the University of Michigan's HI-CE project to enhance the development of cognitive strategies and intellectual skills in learners.

27th Annual MACUL Conference: Tools for Learning and Living
This three-day regional conference held in Detroit MI attracts national speakers and presents a wide variety of educational technology topics. Featured speakers included Don Knezek, CEO of ISTE. My focus for this conference was handheld computers in education.

Franklin University Lessons in Leadership Series: Leadership is a Choice: The Four Roles of a Leader
This daylong workshop was held in Columbus, Ohio and featured Stephen Covey who presented crucial roles and skills that leaders must develop to advance the work and vitality of both their workers and organizations.

Wyncom Inc. Fifth Annual Worldwide Lessons in Leadership Series: The Brave New Workplace: Strategies to Excel in a world of Change
This daylong teleconference was held in Columbus, Ohio and focused on leadership strategies for a rapidly changing world and workplace. The teleconference featured an array of leadership models presented by speakers such as Stephen Covey, Tom Peters, and Ken Blanchard.
